Organism Editor

Spore Organism EditorThe Organism editor is the first Spore tool introduced to players. The editor allows you to spend your accumulated DNA points on upgrades to your organism, including flagella, an eye and spikes. These upgrades help your small organism survive in what is a very dangerous environment. Spike like appendages help you protect yourself against smaller organisms, while flagella and tentacles increase it’s speed of motility. With each generation, the organism becomes larger and more complex until eventually it becomes a slug capable of slothing on land. At this point the organism editor evolves into the creature editor, where much more sophisticated changes can be made. The organism editor, while interesting, is not as complex as the tools of other phases. This is because the tide pool phase is used more as a introduction to the game and a tutorial to the tools than anything else. The phase should only last 6 generations (approximately 1 hour) and so the number of upgrades and adjustments to the organism’s design is somewhat limited in comparison to the other editors (namely the Creature Creator). However, there are still a sufficient number of options and manipulations to create uniquely your own set of organisms.
