Spore Teams
Introduction
Given that I’m sure many of you will want to work together as a team to create interesting content, from creatures to spaceships and flora. I thought it would be appropriate for such teams to have a place to talk and show off some of your work as a group. We can offer two ways to facilitate this and what you choose to pursue entirely depends on what you are looking for. You may even use both options if you believe it will help your team.
Social Groups
The first is to create a social group, it’s like a profile page with a messengering system and image gallery built into it. The person who creates the group will be the administrator of the profile and can either make the group public, private or by invitation only. The page is entirely under the control of the team administrator and the group itself. Sporenormous moderators will still check these profiles out periodically to make sure there are no blatant rules being broken. But if the social group is private and by invitation only, we will let many things slide so long as everything remains legal (ie. we’re not going to worry about the language used in a private area). Social groups can be created by registered members without the involvement of mods/admins, so feel free to create one now if you wish. If you wish to delete a group, contact an admin. Here are a few rules regaridng the naming of your group:
- If your group is there for creation purposes (and not a hobby/interest group), name it “Team XXXXX”, ie. “Team Ninja”.
- The name of the group must be written without using all upper case or a mixture of upper/lower case. Example of illegal names: “TeAm NiNjA”, “TEAM NINJA” - the proper way would be “Team Ninja”. If you have any questions and concerns about this policy, contact an admin.
- Don’t use foul language, exclamation points, question marks or anything that is an eye sore. Keep it clean and simple!

Team Forums
On the other hand, if you are a group that wishes to show of their works and don’t mind their conversations being public, we can create a subforum for you. It will be public, but most moderation responsibility will be given to the leaders of the team. Remember, while it may be a team forum - anyone can post in here, not just your members. More than anything, it is place where you can show off your work to a large audience and discuss new ideas with friends. If you decide that you want such a forum, we have a few caveats that must be followed:
- All Sporenormous rules apply, it’s a public forum and therefore will be treated as such from a moderation standpoint. Keep your forum free of spam and improper threads.
- Before requesting a forum, you must have at least 5 members on your team, each with at least 10 posts on the general forum. Team forums are more difficult for us to manage and increase our workload - therefore we expect those that apply for a forum will use it.
- All Teams must follow the same naming format, “Team XXX”, example: “Team Ninja”.
- If a forum becomes too unruly and breaks the rules too many times, it will be shut down. There will be ample warning before hand though - we believe in second and even third chances, but at some point something has to give.
- If a forum becomes inactive for an extended period of time, it will be closed (not deleted, but invisible for the time being - until a team leader can certify that it will be used if reactivated) and replaced by another group.
If you are interested in opening a team forum and have five qualified members to your team, contact me via personal message and I can setup it up for you. Remember to include who you wish to have moderation powers for that forum.
Also note, for the moment we are going to limit the number of available team forums to 15. Once we reach this point, we will make a decision on whether to add more or keep the same number - depending on our experience with the current crop. Apply early, as it is a first come, first served.
